Hi,
In the focus group area, would it be possible, once I select remove, for the url to be tagged (and displayed) in a separate section called completed?
That way I would be able to see what work had been completed, what work I had left (to complete_ and also provide the traceability of what I started with.

    Hi Ger,

Not sure this will become available, focus areas are not only for adding objects to a task list, so removing them should not always add them to a 'completed' set.

Focus areas are for grouping content together, so it may be to show examples of 'good' pages, so setting them to completed would not make sense in this case.

At the moment users can add notes to focus areas, this can be used for traceability, objects without a note can be assumed they still require attention, if that is the nature of the focus area.

A possible solution solution would be to provide the option to move content between focus areas, that way you can move objects to a 'completed task focus area'.

    Hi Ross,

The focus area are presented to customer as a collaborative area for assigning and maintaining task list. I am not sure or aware that it has ever been presented as area for showing good/bad pages. The Focus area provides a list of bookmark pages and the way i see it working in the most beneficial way is having a list of tasks which can be applied to the URL in a focus area. The task can be to mark it as complete, remove from the list etc. We can have 2-3 tasks available via drop down list and user can select the appropriate action. If the user selects to mark the task as complete, it adds the url into another section within the same focus area.

The benefit customer see of using the focus area is that it provides them with a list of tasks to be actioned without having to use Excel. With them not being able to track what was assigned and completed does not allow them to move away from excel as everyone would like to keep a track of assigned task and completed task.

You would not want to look through all the pages going through the notes trying to find out which URL was actioned by you.

Adding the URL to another Focus area is not useful either as it will start getting messy and lose track of what work is completed for which Focus Area.

    Hi,

Firstly, if this is a feature request it belongs in the feature request discussion and should be moved to there so it can be treated as such, however...

A focus area, as the name suggests is a group of pages that should be focused on, not limited to 'things to fix' there is no reason that it should be limited to that. Ross was just giving an example with the 'good' pages, im sure there are tons of other things that a focus area could be used for rather than simple a task list. What you are asking for is a workflow system, this is not a workflow system, it is simply a group of pages that share a common interest.

    Hi,

The Subject states that it is a Feature Request and I think the reason for it being in the WebWorxx area is that it is specific to WebWorxx.

I am open to the view on how else the use of Focus Area can be perceived.

I agree Focus Area is a list of pages to be focused on, but anything which requires focus demands action. By having the remove button does not satisfy the demand action as there is no traceability of the action.

To me any list which is created has a purpose for e.g. lets take the good page example. It is to show someone that these are good pages. Once the action is performed, one would like to mark it as actioned which can be by adding comment to the page, moving it to another focus area (as per Ross suggestion). The list will always require some sort of action being performed, without which it is not that useful when you can have hundreds of URL in the Focus Area.

If you take another example say 'Page Template Design Consideration'. This would again require an action against the list.

If we take it from usability point of view, the user will see great benefit of being able to see clearly what was assigned, what is completed etc. It adds another great feature to the product as i stated that it brings everyone completely into the portal.

We have to think from customer point of view here what is useful and good functionality for them and not it is workflow (which i by the way do not agree) functionality.

    Hi,

We will discuss this when Ijonas is back,

sounds like it needs proper definition of what is required, while considering the impact on the current functionality and if suitable, how long it would take to develop.

    Hi all,
What a discussion, which is all healthy!
We position and believe that webworxx is different from other monitoring tools that are in the market. Primarily, we are different because we put our design decisions based around what makes a web ops teams function easier. Collaboration and the ability to see changes in your breaches across time is key to that.
Having the ability to still "see" your removed/fixed url list in the same focus area until all work has been completed is feedback we have had from demo's/user experiences.
It’s a feature request that I believe is one that would be useful to all and keep to our core message.
