Check For General Reader
Checks the content of the document and provides a rating on the intended audience. This calculation is based on the gunning fog index, which is a test designed to measure the readability of a sample of English writing.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure the customer is providing content that is suitable for its intended target audience.
A policy violation will be created by this policy, however, this is strictly for reporting purposes and used to indicate that the content is intended for a 'reader of a general education level'.
Check For American Spelling
Checks if the document contains potential use of American spelling. This policy will generate a policy exception if a word is found that could potentially be of American spelling, however this may be a word that is valid in the context of the customers content and should be considered as a reporting exception.
Check For Large Paragraphs
Checks for large paragraphs within the HTML document. This policy is configured to allow the number of words that are allowed in a paragraph before it will be considered 'large'. The aim of this policy is to ensure customers provide content in manageable and readable 'chunks', as opposed to large monolithic blocks of content.
Check Spelling
Checks the spelling of content within the HTML document. This works in a similar way to word processing spell checkers, policy exceptions are generated when an invalid word is found.
The dictionary that Vamosa use is not extensive enough to cover all possible spellings of all words. Customers can provide additional words that can be added to this dictionary to improve the results, whereby excluding customer specific domain level words that should not be flagged as an invalid spelling.
Check For Leet Speak
Checks if the document contains potential 'leet' speak. Leet speak is becoming more noticeable in every day life with the increase in SMS messaging and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter e.g lol, brb and as such are easily added by web authors inadvertently.
This policy aims to detect these 'shorthand' words to allow the customer to provide more quality content. A policy exception will be generated when a word considered 'leet speak' is detected.
Check For Repeated Words
Checks if the document contains repeated words, eg. this is repeated repeated. Web authors can easily add a repeated word by mistake, these errors can often go unnoticed by the human eye before the content is published.
When a repeated word is detected a policy exception is generated.
Check For Educated Reader
Checks the content of the document and provides a rating on the intended audience. This calculation is based on the gunning fog index, which is a test designed to measure the readability of a sample of English writing.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure the customer is providing content that is suitable for its intended target audience.
A policy violation will be created by this policy when the rating meets the educated reader level, however, this is strictly for reporting purposes and used to indicate that the content is intended for an 'educated reader of a formal education level'.
Check For Large Sentences
Checks for large sentences within the HTML document. This policy is configured to allow the number of words that are allowed in a sentence before it will be considered 'large'.
Sentences that contain more than the specified number of words will generate a policy exception.
Check For Swear Words
Checks for possible swear words that are in the HTML document.
This policy can highlight words that are not regarded as a 'swear' word in the context of a customers domain, for example some sexual health words may not be suitable for a children's website, while they may be perfectly suitable on a hospital health website.
Any potential swear words found will be highlighted as a policy exception.
